BOSS Social Skills Summer Group Enrolling Now

PROGRAM REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

FUSE is pleased to announce that registration is now open for our summer social skills group BOSS (Building our Social Skills).  BOSS is designed for students ages 11-15 who need help learning how to make friends, initiate/ maintain conversation, participate in group activities, compromise, and win/lose when playing games. Weekly lessons will use a combination of formal and informal activities in a small group atmosphere.  Sessions include leader-directed instruction with hands-on practical exercises that may include video modeling, skits, crafts, or group games for skill reinforcement.  Unstructured conversation also allows students to practice skills without adult interaction but with instant feedback from the leader.

Sessions will be on Monday evenings from June 4 through July 23. NEW meeting location will be the training room at the Sugar Creek Township Fire Department, 3545 S 600 W, New Palestine. (July 2 session will be relocated due to schedule conflict, location TBA). Program fees are $100.00. Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card. Payment plans by auto debit are available if needed. A limited number of partial scholarships are available for those with financial need.  Please indicate on your registration if you need a scholarship.  Once your registration has been accepted, we will invoice for the payment.

This year we are breaking the students into two groups by skill level, so the time will depend on which group your student is assigned.  Group A will meet from 6:30 to 7:20, and group B will meet from 7:30 to 8:30. Space in this program is limited to 12 students. It is not limited to any particular diagnosis, but students do need to have verbal communication skills.  Application deadline is May 18, but this program fills quickly, so registration could reach capacity prior to that date. A waiting list will be maintained once enrollment reaches capacity.

If your child has never participated in the program, there will be a meeting on May 21where you will be asked to bring your child to meet the instructors to determine their group assignment. Details for this meeting will be forwarded once your application is received. Parents will be notified of their group assignment no later than May 25.

FUSE reserves the right to select applications that will create the most effective grouping possible.  Late applications accepted only if space is still available.
