At 9:00 am we will feature a one hour presentations by keynote speakers for the public and exhibitors will have the chance to network. At 10:00 am the Exhibit Hall will be opened to the public. It will close at 1:00 pm.

Special Education: Educational Rights and Responsibilities

 

Summary of Presentation: This session will provide an overview of the federal laws and state laws protecting the education of students with disabilities with a focus on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA)  and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.  Attendees will learn how to recognize and resolve disputes regarding special education matters including eligibility, educational services and placement and discipline. The session will also highlight some recent changes in education laws regarding assessments and attendance. Come prepared with questions for the Q & A session following the presentation!

 

Bio of Speaker

Margaret Jones, Esq. is the Executive Director of Ability Allies, a nonprofit that provides free and affordable educational advocacy and legal assistance for students with disabilities. She represents students throughout the state of Indiana in special education matters. Margaret earned her law degree in 1988 from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. She is pleased to use her legal skills to ensure that students with disabilities receive an appropriate education and are prepared to lead productive and fulfilling lives, fully engaged in their communities.

 

Structured Family Caregiving: What is it and how can it help you?

 

Fenway Park, a Health Coach with Primecare Home Care Services, a provider of Structured Family Caregiving (SFC), is pleased to reconnect with FUSE and collaborate with the community and families. With a background in the disability field and senior living, Fenway's expertise now combines both areas through SFC. His passion lies in connecting with, educating, and supporting individuals. He will be presenting information about Structured Family Caregiving, including qualifications, required steps, and the Medicaid waiver waitlist.
